How do I work in on the gym floor?
If you wish to share equipment with another member, simply ask, "May I work in"? When you take your turn, finish your set or exercise in a timely manner and then allow others to share. A common error that some gym users make is to use a piece of equipment and then rest on it between sets. This doesn't allow others to share and slows down the pace of the gym. To rest, remove yourself from the piece you are using and be aware then that others may wish to use the piece or bench you are happily resting on between sets.
I'd like to try an Aerobic Class but I have never done one before - What should I do?
Please note some classes require bookings. Click here to check times and booking requirements. Ensure you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the class commencement time to allow time to set-up or for technique instruction. The warm-up track/s in each class are specifically designed for the work-out about to be undertaken. In the interest of Members & Guests safety once a class has commenced no more participants are permitted to enter the class.
If you would like to do a group fitness class, you need to collect a group fitness class card from the front counter. Make yourself known to the instructor (the front line staff can introduce you to them) and advise them (the instructor) that this is your first class and of any injuries or illnesses you have currently or previously have had. It is also important to advise the instructor if you are pregnant. The instructor will go through some techniques and variations with you. They will collect the cards before the commencement of the class. If at any time you feel uncomfortable or unwell, you should immediately advise the instructor. The instructor will attend to you until they can get someone to help you or until you feel well enough to commence again.
Every three months our Instructors attend Workshops or view videos presented by the Les Mills Master Trainers. This ensures their on-going development as Instructors and that they are up-to-date with the latest information. These new routines are then launched at the Centre, it is highly recommended that you attend a Launch because they are new to the whole class so they are great for beginners. This is the only time that you need to book a place because they are very popular as the Instructors dress up and it is great fun for everyone.
What do I do if I am not happy with something?
We invite member's to let us know if something is not right - whether it is about your program, a piece of equipment or even a staff member. We have a system set-up so you can feel comfortable about informing us. If you didn't care, you wouldn't take the time to let us know. If you have a suggestion or complaint, stop by the front desk and ask for a Member's Advisory Card. Fill it out and we'll address it as soon as possible. If it is something that you feel is too serious for a Member's Advisory Card, see one of the managers immediately and let us know what we can do.
We hope you enjoy your time as a Tropical Bodies Member |
