The gym can be a confusing place when you first start. It's not unusual to be concerned about learning to fit into the gym environment. How do I share machines with someone? How do I know when it's my turn to use a treadmill? How do I get help if I need it? All of these are common questions members ask during their first month or two with us. The following guide should help you get started, or simply ask one of our Front Line staff members if your question is not included below.

What should I wear to the gym?

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing to the gym, whether it be T-Shirt and shorts or tracksuit pants or ¾ pants, just ensure that you feel comfortable in what you choose.

It is a requirement under Tropical Bodies Policy & Procedures that covered footwear be worn at all times in the gym. A pair of joggers or sneakers is fine, you don't need to go and buy an expensive pair of trainers.

For hygiene purposes a towel must be placed between you and the bench or piece of equipment being used. Most members bring a towel from home. If you prefer, however, the Club can hire you a towel for your visit for a minimal charge. Towel hire is available at the front counter from our front line staff.

Where do I store my personal belongings?

Smaller items such as wallet and keys can be stored in pigeon holes behind the Front Counter. Our Front Line Staff will supply you with a corresponding numbered tag for where your personal items have been stored. This ensures their safety and only you can claim your belongings.

A port rack can be located just upon entry into the Gym for larger items such as backpacks and sports bags.

For larger personal items lockers can be found in both the Men's and Ladies change rooms. These lockers are supplied for members use free of charge whilst on-site. The Front Line Staff can issue you with a key upon arrival; you will be required to have your membership card scanned for locker use. The key must be returned before you leave the Centre.

How do I book an appointment for my Personal Training Sessions or for a Program Review?

Your membership agreement form will have on it the amount of training sessions available for you. If you have no training sessions available you can purchase some additional training sessions (additional purchases) from the front counter.

To book your training session contact the front counter and let them know what time of the day you would prefer to use a trainer (mornings or afternoons, weekends etc). They will also need to know your surname and membership number, which is on your membership card.
